Summary
The Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to maximize business productivity by performing complex financial analysis, budget forecasting, and reporting. This position will play an important role in directing daily financial operations of the department and will monitor and report key financial metrics to departmental leadership and College stakeholders. This position will assist in process improvement initiatives related to financial performance and evaluate business development opportunities.
The person in this role will regularly interact with faculty in the department and must be able to communicate effectively and professionally at all times. While the position will need to be on location at least initially, we would consider a hybrid work schedule.
Job Duties
- Develop annual department budget and track performance to budget throughout the fiscal year.
- Participate in budget forecasting across mission areas, investigate and report on variances to budget and forecast.
- Establish financial systems to monitor and analyze expenditures, and identify areas to reduce expenses, particularly related to clinical operations.
- Collaborate with key department and College stakeholders to facilitate collection and analysis of financial data.
- Manage and execute service line budgets within the department, establishing workflows or processes to verify revenue and expense generation.
- Organize and communicate monthly financial reports for administrator, associate administrator, practice manager, and physician leadership.
- Monitor productivity for physicians participating in Baylor Medicine compensation plan, communicating regularly with leadership regarding individual benchmarks.
- Assist with strategic business development as it relates to clinical operations. Specifically, formulate business plans, proformas, and concept acceptance proposals as required.
- Work with medical director and practice manager to create internal mechanisms to periodically review pricing for self-pay offerings.
- Manage effort and cost distributions for staff and faculty.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field.
- Four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in an academic healthcare setting.
- Strong background in financial management/analysis or accounting.
- Advanced skills in Excel and other Microsoft applications.
- Knowledge of S4 Hana or other Enterprise Resource Planning applications.
