Summary
This position will provide support to the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis in managing day-to-day financial operations for key accounts and processes. The focus will be on producing internal financial reports, monitoring expenses to budget, and reviewing processes to ensure alignment with financial efficiency and controls.
This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement within the Greater Houston, TX area with occasional onsite as needed.
Job Duties
Financial Reporting and Analysis
• Prepares monthly financial reports and provides trend analysis on key accounts such as CMT, BTRD, 340B, SRAs, BCM gifts, retention funding, tobacco accounts and BCM Physician Services Organization (PSF) cost centers.
• Prepares ad hoc reporting as requested by Director, Financial Planning and Analysis.
• Monitors key variance reporting such as unprocessed Concur transactions, Grants without Efforts, Blocked Invoices, and emergent data requests and ensures deadlines to align data as requested are met.
Budgeting and Forecasting
• Performs financial analysis and budget forecasting.
• Prepares and monitors budgets. Submits budget revisions as needed.
• Monitors BCM PSO cost center budgets and works closely with organization unit administrators (OUA) to manage the corresponding affiliate funding budgets.
• Participates in annual faculty and staff effort determinations and compiles data from OUAs to assist in proper entry into the cost and effort distribution system for budget.
• Provides guidance and education to the OUAs on BCM financial operations and systems.
Transaction Oversight and Approvals
• Reviews and approves financial entries and transactions, such as journal entries or purchase orders.
• Prepares invoices for SRA cash awards per the contracts and submits corresponding S4 accounts receivable uploads.
• Provides backup to the Director, Financial Planning and Analysis for HRMS, Jaggaer, and Concur approvals as needed.
Expense Monitoring and Compliance
• Monitors expenses and financial accounts.
• Communicates regularly with various internal and external stakeholders to facilitate collection and analysis of financial data.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field.
- Four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
- Advanced degree in a related field.
- Healthcare and/or academic industry experience.
- Technical skills: Advanced Excel, PowerBI, S4 HANA, Concur, Jaggaer, Voyager
