Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Bobby R. Alford Department of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst to help maximize business productivity by performing complex financial analysis, budget forecasting, and reporting. This position will play an important role in directing daily operations of the department, and will monitor and report medical services revenue to department and College stakeholders. Along with departmental leadership, this position will lead process improvement initiatives related to financial performance and evaluate business development opportunities. This role will regularly interact with faculty in the department and must be able to communicate effectively and professionally at all times. While the position will need to be onsite at least initially, we would consider a hybrid work schedule. 

Job Duties

  • Performs financial analysis and budget forecasting.
  • Creates financial reports, forecast presentations, variances, and identify risks and opportunities.
  • Participates in the preparation and submission of documentation for long-term financing requests.
  • Identifies trends and recommends actions based on sound analysis.
  • Analyzes data to improve operational efficiency and implement outcomes.
  • Prepares and monitors budgets.
  • Monitors expenses and financial accounts.
  • Prepares and maintains report templates for analysis and financial forecasting.
  • Communicates regularly with various internal and external stakeholders to facilitate collection and analysis of financial data.
  • Assists with post award grant activities.
  • Provides creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance.
  • Develops financial models, conducts benchmarking, and processes analysis.
  • Conducts business studies on past, future and comparative performance and develop forecast models.
  • Reviews and approves financial entries and transactions, such as journal entries or purchase orders. 
  • Manages and executes service line budgets within the department, establishing workflows or processes to verify revenue and expense generation
  • Organizes and communicates monthly financial reports for administrator, practice manager, and physician leadership.
  • Monitors productivity for physicians participating in Baylor Medicine compensation plan, communicating regularly with leadership regarding individual benchmarks.
  • Assists with strategic business development as it relates to clinical operations. Specifically, formulate business plans, proformas, and concept acceptance proposals as required.
  • Works with medical director and practice manager to create internal mechanisms to periodically review pricing for self-pay offerings such as cosmetic injections/procedures, sublingual allergy therapy, and hearing aids.
  • Manages effort and cost distributions for staff and faculty.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance or a related field.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Relevant advanced degree.
  • Experience in healthcare and/or academic medicine.
  • Experience in SAP.
