Baylor College of Medicine, Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery Education Office is seeking a full-time Senior Coordinator to serve as a key team member in the to lead our undergraduate medical student program for our Core Clerkship program. The Senior Coordinator assists with the day-to-day operations of a large undergraduate medical school core program. This position coordinates and provides some oversight in our undergraduate program, onboarding/orientation, grades, curriculum and overall management of core clerkship program. Additionally, the position monitors compliance in, all evaluations, all online training modules, duty hours and College mandates.

The Senior Coordinator should be a self-starter and have some knowledge of interpersonal skills in working with learners. The position requires excellent organization and communication skills, with excellent Microsoft Office and Zoom skills. We are seeking an individual who is flexible, willing to learn, and will appreciate a fast paced working environment.

Job Duties

Tasks and Duties outlined yet not limited to as follows:


  • Leads and Coordinates the Medical Student Program (Core Clerkship)
    • This position works directly with the Core Clerkship Director and Associate Clerkship Directors in the overall management and delivery administratively of the core clerkship program for Surgery in compliance to LCME. This involves teamwork, communication, innovative, system based improvement, and collaboration with all faculty, staff and residents as well as college and outside representatives. Positive interpersonal skills, efficient time management in multi-tasks, conflict resolution and resolution with positive outcome.
  • Works with the UME Offices (Registrar, Curriculum, etc.) at the College level.
  • Works on E*Value as directed for grade management.
  • Engage regularly with students and in support.
  • Skills and management of grades and information - in Excel and Access as directed by Faculty leadership.
  • Understands compliance as outlined for grades and rotations and provides monitoring with updates to Director and at UME meetings.
  • Attend and participate in UME College Clerkship meetings, Surgery Education Committee and Medical Student UME subcommittee meetings as directed.


 Administrative coordinator:

  • o Ensures all student assessment forms are launched to appropriate supervising faculty.
  • o Submits final course grades in appropriate format to the Office of Registrar by 4 weeks after course completion in compliance with BCM SOM Grade Submission Policy.
  • o Must be E*Value proficient.
  • o Correspond in a timely manner with Office of Curriculum and Office of Registrar
  • o Work with Course directors course documentation including enrollment roles.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education Required: High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience Required: Four years of relevant experience.
  • Certification/Licenses/Registration: None Required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Knowledge and use of Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to multitask and be organized.
