Job Purpose

Provides administrative management for the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery for the following educational programs. This will include the Pediatric Surgery Residency Program, Surgical Critical Care Residency Program, Vascular Surgery (Integrated and Traditional) Residency Program, and Abdominal Transplant Surgery Fellowship.

Job Duties
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the education programs.
  • Responsible for assisting Program Director with daily administration of the Residency Programs.
  • Work with in the various offices at Baylor College of Medicine (i.e. Legal Affairs, Graduate Medical Education Office, International Office, etc.) as necessary.  
  • Responsible for enforcing all BCM policies relating to Graduate Medical Education Programs while working with departmental leaders in developing policies for review as needed.  
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures for the Residency Programs and work with Legal Affairs as necessary.
  • Process paperwork as necessary for visa through the BCM International Office.  
  • Assist residents in obtaining and maintaining visa documents.
  • Develop, and schedule curriculum for its educational programs. 
  • Manage website and recruitment for its programs in compliance to NRMP. 
  • Lead Annual Program Evaluation committee and assessment of the programs. 
  • Manage the Clinical Competency Committee meeting for the programs.  
  • Daily communication with the residents and fellows in management of its programs. 
  • Develop and maintain the residency and fellowship handbooks and guidebooks. 
  • Maintain MedHub in all aspects for its programs. 
  • Develop evaluation assessment of the program if needed. 
  • Develop educational programs with innovation in today's learning environment for advancement in educational training. 
  • Maintain parking, financial, and travel request as directed. 
  • Maintain onboarding and off boarding for the programs along  with development innovation concepts with excellent delivery.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education Required: High School diploma or GED.
  • Experience Required: Four years of relevant experience.
  • Certification/Licenses/Registration: None Required.
