Summary

The Baylor Medicine Spine Center, Pituitary Center and Neurosurgery is seeking a highly motivated and outgoing Patient Support Services Coordinator who is comfortable utilizing technology to engage with patients and providers. The coordinator will be responsible for the management of all aspects of patient referrals, insurance verification issues and clinical faxes. The coordinator will support a team of 10+ physicians, 6 nurse practitioners and 1 registered nurse across three clinics. The coordinator will be joining a team of 12 medical assistants, 6 surgery coordinators and one radiologic technologist. 

Job Duties

  • Manages all aspects of patient referrals including but not limited to scheduling appointments, following up with physician offices for records/insurance referrals and communicating with patients regarding pending or missing referrals/records
  • Reviews and manages departmental referral workqueues.
  • Manages review and approval of appropriate externally uploaded images (Ambra portal) as well as transfer into patient medical record.
  • Assists with resolution of insurance verification issues (STAT prior authorizations, peer to peer requests, appeals and denials). 
  • Manages all clinical faxes including but not limited to referral management, uploading records and disseminating faxes to appropriate team members for resolution.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Four years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience using Epic electronic medical record.
  • Prior experience in Neurosurgery.
  • Excellent communication skills.
