Job Purpose

Oversees and coordinates the day-to-day operations of a research or administrative project, which may include the supervision of staff employees and/or student workers.

Job Duties
  • Develops and coordinates methods and procedures for implementing and administering the project.
  • May assist with recruitment of project staff, conduct annual performance appraisals, and handle disciplinary problems as necessary. Mentors lower level staff members.
  • Reviews records and reports activities to ensure that progress is being accomplished toward specified project objectives; recommends modifications to methods or procedures as required to redirect activities and ensure that objectives are met.
  • May manage project-specific budgetary and fiscal activities, including budget planning and analysis.
  • Provides guidance to subordinate professionals in carrying out project objectives.

  • May prepare or participate in the preparation of abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation as required.
  • Reviews reports and records of activities to ensure progress is being made toward specified program objectives.
  • Prepares recurring activities for management use.
  • May participate in preparing grant proposals to federal agencies and private foundations.
  • May develop databases for the research or administrative project.
  • Analyzes data and makes recommendations.

  • Participates in planning meetings at the inception of new research or administrative projects.
  • May conduct formal training or instruction in a classroom setting.
  • Interacts with faculty, staff and students to promote the goals and objectives of the project.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Required: High School diploma or GED.
  • Required: Four years of relevant experience.
