The Department of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is currently accepting applications for the position of Senior Business Operations Associate in our section of Hematology and Oncology.


As a Senior Business Operations Associate, you will support the financial and business operations of the department in cooperation with the leadership team. The Operations Associate will engage in internal business development, support new business development, and assure accuracy of departmental transactions. 


The ideal candidate has experience with pre and post-award grant management, experience managing budgets and finances, and experience leading staff.


Due to the nature of this position, onsite work is required.

Job Duties

  • Assists Department Administrator and Department Chair with annual budget, forecasting revenue and expenses for clinical, education, and research missions.
  • Monitors and processes changes to labor distribution, assures accurate and cost and effort reporting in place for faculty and staff.
  • Processes month end close as well as budget revision requests, oversees supplemental payment processing.
  • Manages the daily operation of a unit including, but not limited to, areas of human resources, compliance, and financial management.
  • Processes onboarding faculty documents (Faculty Affairs, HR, Employee Agreements, Term Sheet, Concept Approval Requests and Proforma both for research and clinical).
  • Supervises professional and/or operational and technical support level employees (3-4 employees), to include assigning tasks, checking work at frequent intervals, and maintaining schedules.
  • Develops and prepares reports for grants, general appropriations, endowments, and other funds.
  • Reviews and approves all statements of accounts, payroll, human resources, and invoice actions.
  • Ensures the ongoing review and development of process improvements to maximize business productivity.
  • Performs pre-award and/or post-award related tasks in support of department faculty members.
  • Assists with special projects.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree. 
  • Four years of relevant experience. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant master's degree (MBA, MHA, or equivalent).
  • Experience as a Research Coordinator or similar role.
  • Pre and post-award grants management experience
  • Previous supervisory and/or leadership experience.
  • Healthcare experience, specifically in an ambulatory setting.
