The Department of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking an experienced and reliable Senior Business Operations Associate to support the Department of Medicine leadership team.


As a Senior Business Operations Associate, you will serve as the human resources policy and procedure expert for the Department of Medicine. Additionally, you will mentor section administrators and human resources staff on all HR activities including hiring, terminations, compensation practices, and disciplinary actions. This position will be the point of contact for the College HR team for all HR matters. The selected candidate will have review and approval authority for all HR transactions within the Department. 


With 14 sections, 10 centers, and seven vice-chair groups, the Margaret M. and Albert B. Alkek Department of Medicine is the largest adult practice department at Baylor College of Medicine. We are one of the largest education programs in the US with more than 700 trainees, and highly competitive specialty fellowship training programs, including seven federally funded research training grants. 

Job Duties

  • Monitors compliance with HR policies and procedures within the department of Medicine.
  • Develops strategies for implementing processes to improve the efficiency of the HR team.
  • Oversees all human resources activities within the department including recruitment, terminations, position management, compensation practices, and disciplinary actions. 
  • Mentors section administrators and managers on the best practices, policies, and procedures using BCM's HR policies and procedures.
  • Reviews and approves all HR transactions in SuccessFactors and SAP.
  • Supports the Department of Medicine faculty appointments and promotions committee.
  • Reviews and assigns work to the business operations coordinators and staff in the human resources group.
  • Handles SuccessFactors approvals (position management, timekeeping, compensation changes).
  • Handles Faculty Appointments and Promotions process management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree. 
  • Four years of relevant experience. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field; a relevant master's degree may be considered in lieu of two years of experience.
