Summary
This position is responsible for developing evidence-based practices, setting program goals, and managing complex cases for a new program geared for individuals experiencing mental health, addictions, and substance abuse issues. The Behavioral Health Specialist will provide clinical supervision, expertise in complex treatment plans, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team with local community mental health providers in Houston to offer term-based clinical treatment and co-occurring disorders in underserved areas.
The ideal candidate would be a certified Licensed Professional Counselor - Supervisor, or a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor - Supervisor.
Job Duties
- Provides clinical supervisor and mentorship to junior staff.
- May manage a team of specialists and/or trainees providing patient care services including psychosocial assessments, crisis intervention, counseling, emotional support, and group therapy work.
- Provides training and counsellings services to paitents and families. In collaboration with the treatment team, identify individual and group resources for assigned patients and family members; serve as liaison between the patient and these resources; initiate and maintain ongoing communication with referral sources
- Reviews and approves treatment plans and interventions. Collaborates with the addiction discipline team members and director to ensure delivery of addiction services including groups and mutual support meetings.
- Manages complex cases that require advanced expertise.
- Sets program goals, policies, and referral processes.
- May assist in the recruitment and hiring of new behavioral health specialists.
- Ensures documentation is entered into the electronic health records, and deadlines for completion are met consistently.
- Maintains compliance with federal and state regulatory standards.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling or Psychology.
- Four years of relevant experience.
- Licensure as a LCSW-S, or LPC-S
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual in English/Spanish.
- Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor - Supervisor.
