Title: Senior Accountant
Summary
Compile and analyze accounting entries to record complex financial transactions for new and existing endowments and other revenue sources. Compile numerous reports on a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis related to the same, as well as supply data and reports for numerous ad hoc requests from departments, management and internal/external auditors. Interface with numerous departments in order to properly record endowment transactions and track/move endowment funds.
This position is eligible to work a hybrid work arrangement.
Job Duties
- Prepares monthly journal entries for assigned accounts and ensures that all account activity is recorded accurately and timely.
- Performs analysis of general ledger reconciliations and accrual entries.
- Reviews entries, verifies amounts and compares balances, and interpret trends or deviations from expected results.
- Reviews expenses and revenues incurred/received to ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Maintains complete and accurate files, including supporting documentation, for all reports, journal entries and analysis.
- Responsible for updating and maintaining financial records.
- Ensures that all transactions are made in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and federal, state, and Baylor College of Medicine guidelines.
- Leads portion of Investment and Endowment accounting month-end and year-end close processes.
- Performs monthly distribution of endowment income and expense. Perform monthly cash projection and ensure timely transfer of cash to college operating account.
- Works with Philanthropy department and department administrators to record new endowment accounts and processing account transfers.
- Performs custodian and general ledger reconciliations to various subsystems for month end reporting.
- Completes audit requests from both internal and external auditors.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's in Accounting or a related field.
- Investment accounting is a plus.
