Job Purpose

Scientific Programmer I, under limited supervision, formulates and defines scope and objectives through research and fact-finding to develop or modify moderately complex information systems. This position will assist in data management while collaborating with a statistician and the PI. This position will be data heavy rather than programmer heavy.

Job Duties
  • Prepares detailed specifications from which programs will be written.
  • Writing code for data Qualtircs and MS Access databases for data entry; optimizing the existing Qualtrics and MS Access databases for data entry.
  • Tests, debugs, documents and maintains programs.
  • Conducting quality control.
  • Designs and develops research software.
  • Writing code for data management using the statistical packages SAS and R.
  • Configures and customizes third-party software.
  • Advises on hardware and software decisions.
  • Applies existing custom research software to both well-defined and complex problems.
  • Working in close collaboration with a statistician and the PI to monitor recruitment and data entry.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minor in Statistics, Bachelor's degree in Psychology.
