Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, individual with strong communication skills for an entry-level programmer to support the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) used by the Baylor Knockout Mouse Phenotyping (KOMP2) program. The application is a multi-tier Java web application build using Maven and Spring MVC framework. Knowledge of Window Server 2008R2, Server virtualization with Hyper-V, Centos or other Linux distros, bash scripting, and Tomcat Server is required. Responsibilities consist of making direct modifications to the database and supporting the staff involved in the KOMP2 project. Candidate must possess a positive attitude with a willingness to learn and desire for continual development. Any background in molecular and human genetics would be a benefit.

Job Responsibilities
  • Prepares detailed specifications from which programs will be written.
  • Designs, codes, tests, debugs, documents and maintains programs.
  • Designs and develops research software.
  • Configures and customizes third-party software.
  • Advises on hardware and software decisions.
  • Applies existing custom research software to both well-defined and complex problems.
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
