Summary
The Department of School of Health Professions is currently seeking an Assistant Professor (Non-Tenure Track).
Job Duties
• Serve as a student advisor providing guidance and mentorship to students in all phases of training regarding their academic performance and professional development.
• Serve as a secondary mentor and, where appropriate, as a primary mentor for students working to fulfill the Master's Paper requirement. • Develop and deliver lecture, laboratory, and small group interactive sessions based on program needs and individual faculty experience and expertise.
• Participate in routine testing of PA student competencies including the roles of proctor, didactic test item writer, test reviewer, skills grader, and skills test writer.
• Recruit, screen and evaluate candidates for admission to the PA Program.
• Participate in continuous and periodic self-study activities to maintain Program accreditation.
• Participate in appropriate professional development activities to maintain clinical competence, licensure, and to improve personal skills as an educator and a clinician.
• Participate in grant proposals, monitoring and reports.
• Engage in original scholarship and research, including presentations, and publications.
• Serve as Course Director for assigned didactic courses.
• Serve as Rotation Coordinator for assigned rotation(s).
• Coordinate with the Associate Director of Education the scheduling, collection and analysis of all student and course assessment activities.
• Coordinate with the Associate Director of Experiential Learning the scheduling, collection and analysis of all student and rotation assessment activities.
• Assist Associate Director of Experiential Learning to schedule clinical rotations and maintain accurate information on student placement in the clinical year database.
• Assist Associate Director of Experiential Learning develop new clinical sites as needed for the training of students that ensure adequate contact with patients to fulfill stated rotation objectives.
• Assist Program Director and Associate Directors to analyze and maintain appropriate evaluation data to evaluate program quality on an on-going basis.
• Evaluate small group sessions for the purpose of quality control and evaluation as needed.
• Attend lectures and small group sessions for purposes of quality control as needed.
• Visit clinical rotation sites for the purpose of quality control and evaluation as needed.
• Monitor capacity of clinical rotations to meet rotation-specific learning objectives.
• Facilitate focus groups to obtain program evaluation data.
• Administer End-of-Rotation exam during the clinical phase of the curriculum.
• Assist Program Director, Associate Director of Education, and Associate Director for Experiential Learning with summative assessment process for determining student readiness to enter clinical rotations and future clinical practice.
• Compile program assessment data for presentation during periodic review sessions.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Required: Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies or equivalent Master's degree from accredited PA program.
Experience:
- Required: Prior clinical experience (minimum three years).
- Preferred: Prior teaching and student mentoring experience in a PA program. Evidence of scholarship and competence in the areas of evidence-based research and statistical analysis.
• Serve on Program and School committees, as requested.
• Provide service to the College, as requested, i.e., committee and task force assignments.
• Provide clinical service as appropriate to expertise, experience, and time availability.
• Participate in the activities of local, state, and national professional organizations.
Certification/Licenses/Registration: Required: NCCPA certification, Texas licensure.
