Salary Range:  $47,372 to $55,731
FLSA Status:  Nonexempt
Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Department of Orthopedic Surgery (Vintage Location) is seeking a professional, customer-focused individual to coordinate and schedule surgical procedures and related patient appointments in an efficient and timely manner. This role serves as a primary point of contact for patients, providing exceptional service, responding to inquiries, and directing questions or concerns to the appropriate staff members to ensure seamless patient care and communication.

 

The ideal candidate will have scheduling experience in a healthcare environment.  Prefer experience in surgery scheduling, referral processing, insurance verification and prior authorization.

 

This position is located at our Vintage Campus location.

Job Duties

  • Schedules, reschedules, and coordinates, patient appointments. Schedules follow up appointments and treatment plans.
  • Triages potential new patients by working with internal algorithms and clinical staff.
  • Interviews new patients via telephone prior to scheduling appointment.
  • Registers patients in Epic system.
  • Verifies insurance for new and established patients.
  • Greets patients in clinic and answers questions.
  • Schedules surgeries, outpatient appointments, and admissions as requested.
  • Answers telephone and routes patient calls.
  • Maintains and updates current information on physician's schedules ensuring that patients are scheduled properly and appointments are confirmed.
  • Assists with preparation of agendas, materials, meetings, etc.
  • Assembles patient charts for next day visits; updates profiles on patients.
  • Calls patients to remind them of their appointments.
  • Processes all referrals within one business day.
  • Liaisons between patient and surgical facility.
  • Obtains surgical and clinical pre-authorizations. 
  • Coordinates patients' ancillary appointments. 
  • Answers patient calls and questions regarding surgery.
  • Enters orders for patient tests and obtains proper paperwork.
  • Corresponds with patient's referring physician as needed.
  • Reviews referral data and ensures all referral loops are being closed in an effective and timely manner.
  • Provides administrative support for physicians as needed to include Outlook Calendar management.
  • May order specialized medical equipment required for surgical procedures.
  • Handles confidential documents.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Hiring Criteria - Not sent to Phenom

  • Surgery scheduling.
  • Insurance verification and prior authorization.
