Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Multispecialty, Cardiology, and Gastroenterology (GI) clinics are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated scheduler to coordinate procedures and support patient care activities.

 

This role includes educating patients, guiding them through their care journey, preparing them for procedures, and scheduling appointments and procedures in both BCM and BSLMC EMRs. The candidate will also collaborate with providers and the clinical team to triage patients, determine appropriate referrals, and schedule clinic visits or procedures. Additional responsibilities include registering patients in both EMRs, reviewing incoming referrals and orders, and responding to patient calls and MyChart messages.

 

The candidate will work Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day. The ideal candidate is organized, motivated, and dedicated to delivering excellent customer service. This position is based at the Vintage Campus, where free on‑site parking is available.

Job Duties

  • Reviews incoming referrals and orders.
  • Triages patients.
  • Schedules appointments and/or procedures in BCM and BSLMC, assuring that every referred patient will have a procedure date scheduled.
  • Works closely with the referral center.
  • Contacts patients for instructions before the procedures and notifies patients of date/time/arrival time.
  • Requests additional information from referring physicians if needed.
  • Works closely with the endoscopy care coordination team to fill endoscopy block.
  • Works on order work queue to select orders and schedule patients.
  • Works closely with MD for any patient special instructions, including procedure locations and clearances prior.
  • Performs cross-checks for procedural or scheduling conflicts to ensure accuracy of exam.
  • Verifies and confirms patient identification and patient information including patient precautions and other vital information on all documentation, as observed by supervisor.
  • Responsible for making and scheduling patient appointments in an efficient and timely manner; routes calls to appropriate staff member. 
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • EPIC experience.
  • Prior ambulatory care experience.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred, not required.
