The position requires an experienced person that understands AR follow up.  The person should be very knowledgeable of how to appeal a denied claim and check status of a claim by payer website or placing a telephone call to the payer.


The ideal candidate should have experience/knowledge of AR follow up, speaking with the insurance company reps for claim status.  They should have experience/knowledge with accessing the payer website for claim information.  The candidate should have experience/knowledge in submitting an appeal for reimbursement.

Job Duties

  • Lead collector and first point of contact for training and education (questions that the collector may have).
  • Calls insurance companies or access payer website for claim status, appeal status on denied claims and payment reimbursement.  
  • Provides assistance to less experienced collector.
  • Processes complex procedures within the revenue cycle including, but not limited to, coding, collections and payment discrepancies. 
  • Ability to identify areas of concern regarding the various areas of the revenue cycle. 
  • Analyzes trends, issues and proposes appropriate action & possible solutions. 
  • Consistently exceeds established performance standards.  
  • Works special projects and follows through to completion.
  • Provides guidance and technical work direction to less experienced Patient Account Representatives.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five years of AR follow up experience.
  • Experience in appeals and denials.
  • Epic experience.
