The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery is seeking a Research Technician III to assist the Aortic Research Lab with:

  • Disease focused on aortic aneurysms and dissections. 
  • Understanding the molecular mechanisms of vascular injury, repair and remodeling during aortic disease development.
  • Investigating Signal transduction and gene expression regulation in vascular wall.
  • Different techniques in molecular biology, cell biology and vascular biology will be used in these studies.

Job Duties

  • Maintaining mouse colonies and genotyping for experiments.
    • Animal breeding.
    • Genotyping to generate tissue specific gene knockout.
    • Animal surgery and vascular imaging.
    • Human and animal tissue analysis (e.g. histology analysis, immunostaining, Western blotting and RT- PCR).
    • Advanced technology such as single cell RNA sequencing will be used.
  • Analyzes data.
  • Presents findings at national and international meetings.
  • Prepares manuscripts for publication.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Animal work, colony management, and genotyping experience.
