Summary

The Neuroscience Department is seeking a Research Technician to join our team of fun and science-loving researchers. The mission of our lab is to develop novel tools to accelerate biomedical research (www.stpierrelab.com; twitter: @StPierreLab). We are looking someone to help plan, facilitate, and document lab research experiments. Candidates should be extremely well organized, detail-oriented, and able to work as part of a team.
 

Job Purpose

This position involves both team-based and individual projects. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop cutting-edge molecular technologies, learn new skills, and be part of an enjoyable workplace.
 

Job Duties

Job responsibilities: Research (80%)

  • Assist with ongoing experimental work to include physiological testing, data analysis, microscopy, or other tasks as needed.
  • Conduct research experiments.
  • Collect and analyzes data and maintains records.
  • Assist in the preparation of laboratory reports. Track project goals to make sure project goals are being met. The candidate will also be expected to keep track of key milestones such as deadlines for annual reports and meetings with scientific steering committees.
  • Operate laboratory equipment.

Job responsibilities: Operation (20%)

  • Facilitate dissemination of our tools. The candidate will coordinate the shipment of tools made in the lab, including the preparation of commercial invoices. The candidate will interact with the Baylor Licensing Group to produce MTA for collaboration with other labs. The candidate will also interact with lab members to ensure that samples are prepared on time.
  • Order lab supplies and equipment using SRM for all lab projects, including good receipts for the items received.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience is required.
