Title: Research Technician III - Stem cell and Cancer Research
Summary
This position is for grant funded projects primarily focused on studying the blood system in mice. The applicant must be familiar with biomedical research and have lab experience working with mouse models. The project will include maintaining mouse colonies, perform bone marrow transplantation, and perform basic molecular biology experiments with mouse tissue. The successful candidate will provide responsible and skilled technical assistance in support of a research project by completing assignments requiring a good knowledge of techniques and practices related to animal research.
Job Duties
- Conduct animal studies and maintain mouse colonies.
- Address mouse husbandry issues when notified by the veterinary staff.
- Prepare and conduct laboratory research experiments and tasks, such as mouse genotyping, immunoblotting, quantitative PCR, and flow cytometry.
- Collect, compile, record, and analyze research data.
- Perform molecular biology experiments under the supervision of the PI.
- Conducts literature searches and summarizes information to share with the PI or other lab members.
- Orders laboratory supplies and equipment.
- Maintain laboratory inventory and order supplies as needed.
- Meet with other laboratories' lab technician to address issues with shared equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- One year of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in basic science or a related field.
- Candidates with experience in mouse husbandry, animal experiments, and molecular biology are preferred.
