Summary

The section of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine is seeking a Research Technician III for Dr. Lindsay Celada's Lab.  We are looking for a highly motivated individual to support ongoing research projects by performing routine lab procedures, recording data, and maintaining lab organization. This role requires strong technical skills, the ability to follow established protocols independently, and proficiency in performing scientific calculations. 

 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, recording daily lab experiments, meeting weekly with PI, planning weekly experiments, processing human lung tissue samples, and performing western blotting, RT-qPCR, flow cytometry, IHC, IF and ELISAs. Additional tasks include sterile tissue culturing, mouse breeding, maintaining accurate records, managing lab supplies, and supporting general lab organization. The role also requires proficiency in scientific calculations, the ability to follow protocols independently, and the capacity to contribute to literature reviews and data analysis. 

Job Duties

  • Prepare and conduct laboratory research experiments.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze data, including performing scientific calculations.
  • Conduct literature searches and summarize findings in an appropriate format.
  • Document results of experiments accurately and thoroughly.
  • Select, evaluate, and apply techniques used in routine research procedures.
  • Procure and process human lung samples.
  • Treat and harvest mouse tissue; perform mouse husbandry.
  • Maintain laboratory organization and assist with ordering laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Basic Science or a related field. GPA of 3.7 or better.
  • Laboratory research experience (2-3 years); proficiency in molecular and cellular biology techniques; experience with animal handling, sterile techniques and cell culture; experience with making dilutions, calculating final concentrations, molarities, and preparing buffers or solutions with precision.
  • Scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Prior experience with laboratory mice.
