Title: Research Technician III - Behavior Core
Summary
A highly motivated research technician is needed to play a critical role in supporting research projects in the neurobehavior core related to behavioral outcomes in rodent models. Immediate position available at the level of Research Technician II to study behavioral outcome measures and in genetic rodent models of brain disorders including neurodevelopmental and adult-onset neurodegenerative disorders. This position involves assisting researchers in conducting behavioral experiments, baseline characterization of rodent model phenotypes, collecting and analyzing data, and maintaining laboratory equipment in the behavior core. The technician will have a basic understanding of neurobiology and desire a mastery of several rodent neurobehavioral assays to evaluate phenotypes in genetic rodent models.
Job Duties
- Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments.
- Collaborates with other researchers in performing assays towards characterization of rodent model phenotypes.
- Trains other investigators on various behavior assays and proper use of behavior equipment.
- Collects, compiles, and organizes data collected from various behavioral studies using specialized neuroscience software.
- Maintains detailed records of experimental procedures and SOPs.
- Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
- Studies behavioral outcome measures in genetic rodent models of brain disorders including neurodevelopmental and adult-onset neurodegenerative disorders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- One year of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in basic science or a related field.
- Prefers someone that has animal handling experience.
- Technical and conceptual foundational knowledge in the areas of genetics, molecular biology and neuroscience are highly preferred.
- Has excellent time management and organizational skills.
