The Department of Otolaryngology is looking to hire a Research Technician II to provide technical assistance to support ongoing research within Dr. Sandulache’s laboratory focused on regulation of cancer metabolism and oxidative stress reponse. We are seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and self-motivated Research Technician who will be responsible for maintaining cell lines and performing experiments.

Job Duties

  • Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments including but not limited to Western blotting, cell transfection, lentiviral infection and drug testing.
  • Performs cell culture experiments under sterile conditions.
  • Performs mouse experiments including but not limited to subcutaneous and orthotopic oral cavity tumor implantation, tumor measurements, tumor harvest and intra-peritoneal and intravenous drug administration.
  • Collects, compiles, and analyzes data into Word documents, PowerPoint presentations and Excel spreadsheets as appropriate.
  • Maintains a detailed laboratory notebook.
  • Compiles and maintains laboratory techniques and protocols in an updated fashion.
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Documents results of experiments.
  • Selects, evaluates, and applies techniques used in routine research.
  • Orders laboratory supplies and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with mice
