The goal of the research program is to study inherited cardiac diseases using the human induced pluripotent stem cell technology. Depending upon the applicants motivation opportunities will be provided to develop independent project. Research Technician will be trained on the tasks in the lab and will work along side with a senior team member with extensive experience. 

Job Duties

  • Conducts cell culture that includes cell lines, primary cells and reprogrammed stem cells. 
  • Assists with basic lab tasks and duties.
  • Performs PCR, western blot, mouse genotyping etc. 
  • Works on virus production.
  • Orders lab supplies as needed.
  • Performs literature searches specific to cardiomyocytes.
  • Works on culture induced human pluripotent stem cell and induced pluripotent stem cell differentiated cardiomyocytes, that includes maintaining and expanding established cell lines, developing new cell lines from patients and controls, genome editing etc.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in biology or related fields.
  • Experiences in molecular biology, cell culture or mouse will be a plus.
  • Self-motivated.
