A full-time research technician position is available in Dr. Hadsell's lab located at Children’s Nutrition Research Center, Baylor College of Medicine. This position will performs the routine elements of research work that requires the use of skills, technical and academic knowledge to follow established procedures and record results.





Job Duties

  • Manages colonies of inbred mice for the collection of research results.
  • Collects tissue and fluid samples from mice.
  • Conducts biochemical analysis of tissue and fluid samples.
  • Collects, compiles and analyzes data.
  • Documents experimental results.
  • Conducts periodic quality control on lab instruments.
  • Maintains instrument maintenance logs.
  • Orders laboratory supplies.
  • Makes stock solutions and buffers.
  • Enters data into databases.
  • Cleans equipment and work area.
  • Assists in the preparation of laboratory reports.
  • Supervises part-time laboratory staff.
  • Supervises student interns.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a biological science.
  • Experience with mouse husbandry.
  • Experience with quantitative analysis of biological samples.
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization in R and EXCEL.
