The Dickinson lab is looking for a motivated person interested in molecular and developmental biology. The Research Technician II will assist in the characterization of mouse models of diseases affecting embryonic development. Will be trained to work independently and perform experiments in a controlled laboratory setting, providing broad experience in mouse development, colony management, and research experience.

Job Duties

  • Prepares, conducts, and reports on laboratory research experiments.
  • Maintains accurate genotyping records.
  • Documents results of experiments in laboratory management software.
  • Selects, evaluates and applies techniques used in routine research.
  • Assists with ongoing experimental work to include data analysis, microscopy, or other tasks as needed.
  • Performs routine laboratory equipment maintenance, reagent ordering and making of solutions.
  • Conducts time-sensitive PCR genotyping and troubleshoots problematic results.
  • Performs mouse husbandry including timed matings, breeding, weaning, euthanasia as needed.
  • Harvests and processes tissue from experimental animals for histology.
  • Works independently and within a team to process samples in the production pipeline and report on results.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with rodents and doing PCR a plus.
