A full-time lab technician position is available in Dr. Qi Wu's lab located at Children's Nutrition Research Center, Baylor College of Medicine. This position will provide critical support for the research focusing on the neural control of feeding behavior and mechanisms of metabolic and neurological disorders, such as obesity, diabetes, anxiety, and depression. The lab is currently on the path to publish a series of manuscripts currently funded by NIH and USDA.

Job Duties

Our laboratory is associated with USDA Children's Nutrition Research Center at Baylor College of Medicine, and Texas Children's Hospital. You will participate in the projects by utilizing some cutting-edge neuroscience technologies and metabolism profiling platforms which have been well established in our lab and CNRC. 
You will be expected to perform experiments and data analysis in transgenic mouse models, including stereotactic brain surgery, immunohistology, tissue DNA/RNA extraction for high-throughput gene sequencing, and various animal behavioral assays. The PI will provide necessary training and sufficient guidance for these experiments and data analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in a broad field of biology, medicine, chemistry, pharmacy.
  • Experience in the following fields are strongly preferred but not required: neuroscience, physiology, pharmacology, and/or genetics.
