Summary

The purpose of this job is to help support the characterization of novel MRI contrast agents in mouse models. The primary roles of the tech will be toxicity studies related to the MRI contrast agents in different mouse models of cancer as well as MRI data analysis (can be taught to those without prior experience). This is an ideal gap year position for an individual to use as a transition while applying to graduate school or medical school.

Job Duties

  • Prepare and perform laboratory research experiments including Western blot on collected tissues.
  • Collect, organize and back up research data onto shared lab BOX files or OneDrive.
  • Conduct literature searches using Pubmed and summarize information used for grant reports and proposals.
  • Document experiment outcomes by keeping a detailed laboratory notebook.
  • Select, evaluate and apply various techniques used in routine laboratory research and MRI data analysis.
  • Order general lab supplies and equipment and obtain quotes from vendors as needed.
  • Help analyze imaging data.
  • Assist in performing acclimation on mice for awake imaging.
  • Help create 3D printed molds of tissues for histology.
  • Interface with specific cores (e.g. histology and bioengineering for sample processing). 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior work with mouse models.
  • Experience with Molecular Biological techniques (Western blots, PCR, etc.).
