The research technician will work of a variety of laboratory and field based projects. Specifically, the technician will work with a vector control team to conduct tick collections locally and work with local animal shelter to coordinate tick collections. In the lab, they will work on processing tick and human clinical samples and perform molecular and immunologic assays.

Job Duties

  • Assist with laboratory and field work related to funded projects. This will include field work one day a week for tick collection. Going to the animal shelter 2-4 days a month to pick up tick samples.
  • Document and process collected ticks in the laboratory; including DNA extraction and PCR testing for pathogens.
  • Document and process clinical samples for immunologic testing by Luminex and PCR.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in biomedical science, public health, or a related field.
