The Hemostasis and Thrombosis Laboratory investigates the science of blood clotting with a focus on von Willebrand factor biology. The Research Technician will support the research mission by preparing and conducting wet lab experiments and by communicating findings through laboratory reports. Research activities will also support ongoing collaborations that investigate the relationships between thrombosis and inflammation.

Job Duties

  • Prepare and conduct experiments:
    • Molecular cloning and DNA analyses (recombinant DNA, PCR, sequencing)
    • Transient and stable transfections
    • Tissue culture
    • Protein expression, purification, and analyses
    • Flow cytometry of engineered cells
  • Maintain current and accurate record of experimental notes and data
  • Keep current with relevant scientific literature
  • Report experimental findings
  • Laboratory maintenance:
    • Stock laboratory supplies and reagents
    • Maintain chemical inventory
    • Clean and maintain laboratory equipment and work areas
    • Comply with safety regulations

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with molecular biology, biochemistry, and tissue culture
