Summary

We are seeking a Research Technician II to perform laboratory experiments using standard molecular biology techniques. Primary experiments will include growth of bacterial cultures and preparation of DNA sequencing reactions.  Position is located at the main Baylor Campus in the Texas Medical Center.

Job Duties

- Preparation of laboratory reagents and growth media. 
- Growth of E. coli bacterial cultures (all strains are non-pathogenic and completely safe).
- Various molecular biology methods including, PCR, qPCR, and gel electrophoresis. 
- Keeping a detailed account of all activity and results in a laboratory notebook. 
- Preparation of sequencing reactions, including multi-channel pippetting. 
- Carrying out sequencing on an Illumina MiSeq sequencer. 
- Analysis of sequencing data.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in physical or biological sciences.
  • Candidates should have good communication and record keeping skills.
