Seeking an exceptional, creative, and thought-provoking technician to join a vibrant group of Molecular Biologists and Microbiologists charged with understanding the molecular basis of mutation and cell evolution. Should be familiar with basic Microbiology and Molecular Biology with strong analytical and technical skills with attention to detail and willing to take instruction. There are multiple projects to choose from with a high-level of flexibility offered. This is a chance to join a vibrant and creative team at a leading medical school in the largest medical center in the world.

Job Duties
  • Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments. (Growth plating, PCR, phage purification, DNA preps, sterility testing.)
  • Collects, compiles and analyzes data. (Maintains a detailed lab notebook and uses Benchling for electronic notes.)
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study. (Reads papers in Microbiology journals such as Infection and Immunity, mBio, J. Bacteriology.)
  • Documents results of experiments. (Use of Excel to make bar graphs, line graphs, heat maps.)
  • Selects, evaluates and applies techniques used in routine research.
  • Orders laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Meets regularly with the PI, team members in lab meetings and weekly group breakouts.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education Required: Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Experience Required: None Required.
Preferred Qualifications

The position is for a job in Microbiology and so the candidate should have a degree in a related field or some Microbiology experience, be willing to learn such skills, and have a strong passion for teamwork.
