Job Purpose

We are seeking an individual to work as a technician in the cultivation of microbes from the human body. The ideal individual will have experience in working with bacteria and basic molecular biology skills. The ability to pay attention to detail is required. Duties will include assembling and running human fecal bioreactors, cultivating bacteria from the human gut and other body sites, PCR identification of strain identities, and making several different types of microbiological media for cultivation.

Job Responsibilities
  • Work under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) and/or Project Manager Maintain accurate and timely record of test results
  • Apply standard quality control procedures to assure accuracy results
  • Operate, calibrate and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment
  • Support other team members
  • Maintain supply inventory

  • General cleaning and of work space and equipment

  • Collect data, organize and centralize files and records

  • Prepare solutions, reagents, and/or media

  • Participate in meetings with the PI

Minimum Qualifications
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
