Summary

The objective of the X-ray Core is to assist Baylor College of Medicine researchers with their structure solution needs to accelerate the discovery of new drugs in order to develop novel treatments and cures against  unmet human diseases. Determining the atomic structures of protein-drug complexes will enhance the institution's investment pipeline to allow for more commercial opportunities.

Job Duties

The Research Technician will assist with the crystallization screening and crystal optimization of proteins and protein complexes for structure analysis. 

  • Prepares biological buffers and stock solutions. 
  • Collects, compiles and analyzes data of protein crystallization screens.  
  • Applies techniques used in routine research and/or follows established protocols. 
  • Documents results of experiments. 
  • Conduct literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Successful applicants must possess quantitative reasoning and excellent communication skills. 
  • No prior experience with protein crystallization is required.
