Summary
Programming technician will be in charge of multiple laboratory tasks, including (1) data collection from human participants in computerized task including keyboard and joystick imputs, (2) management and curation of data from these participants, as well as analyses of these data, including ANOVA, t-tests, GLM, and generativemodels, (3) preparation and management of tissue samples for neuroanatomical analysis.
Job Duties
- Maintain code database for behavioral tasks.
- Programming and debugging new behavioral tasks.
- Responsible for collection of the appropriate data from these patients, including explaining the task and on-line debugging.
- Work closely with multiple laboratories, and will work with graduate students and post-docs in those laboratories to improve workflow and data analysis practices and will document results of experiments.
- Order laboratory supplies and equipment, and will select, evaluate, and apply techniques used in research.
- Work with pathologists to collect tissue samples from patients and animals models, and will manage preparation pipeline, including fixation, tissue slicing, histological mounting, and slide preparation.
- Technician will be expected to be an active participant in laboratory activities, including journal clubs and seminars.
- Read and summarize scholarly literature.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Masters degree in a basic science or related field.
- Neuroscience or related field preferred.
- Programming experience, strong coding, especially in Matlab or Python preferred.
