Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine section in the Department of Medicine is seeking a Research Technician II for Dr. Farrah Kheradmand's lab. The research technician II will work with Dr. Kheradmand to set up mouse breeding and genotyping related to the project. They will analyze lung cancer data from mice in each standard lab protocol. The technician will work with Dr. Kheradmand to plan and carry out experiments, analyze data, and generate figures for publication. They will use flow cytometry, microscopy, molecular biology, and immunology techniques. Dr. Kheradmand will provide any additional training should this be necessary.

Job Duties

  • Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments involving mouse breeding and genotyping.
  • Collects and compiles lung cancer data from mice using standard lab protocol
  • Analyzes data and generates figures for publication
  • Conducts literature searches in the fields of Molecular Biology & Protein Biochemistry and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Documents results of experiments.
  • Selects, evaluates, and applies techniques used in routine research.
  • Orders laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS degree in biology or technology with at least two years of lab experience in biology.
  • MS degree in biology or medical research technology.
  • Experience with mice handling - colony maintenance, breeding, tagging, husbandry & genotyping. 
  • Experience with Molecular Biology & Protein Biochemistry.
