Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Dr. Matthew Rasband lab (https://www.bcm.edu/research/faculty-labs/matthew-rasband-lab) is seeking applications for a Research Technician II position. 

The Rasband lab is engaged in projects related to understanding the functional organization of axons in normal health and disease/injury using proteomics, molecular biology, biochemistry, shRNA-mediated knockdown of protein expression, electrophysiology, recombineering to generate conditional knockout-mice, cell-culture, models of peripheral nerve injury (e.g. nerve crush, lysolecithin mediated demyelination), in utero electroporation, etc. 

Job Duties

  • Performs mouse colony management and maintenance.
  • Works on genotyping.
  • Works on experimental support for on-going studies.
  • Performs tissue harvesting.
  • Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments.
  • Collects, compiles, and analyzes data.
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Documents result of experiments.
  • Selects, evaluates, and applies techniques used in routine research.
  • Orders laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.
