Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

We are seeking self-motivated individual to work in a laboratory at the Jan and Dan Duncan NRI focused on the investigating the neural circuit mechaniasms that govern feeding behavior.  The candidate will assist in  projects that will investigate how stress and sensory processing affects feeding.

Job Duties

  • Assist in molecular biology techniques and experiments that include RT-PCR, cloning, adeno-associated virus expression experiments, and mouse behavior and feeding measurements.
  • Candidate will be trained to maintain mouse colonies, including genotyping mice via PCR, evaluate mouse behavior, and setting up breeding cages. 
  • Will collect, compile, and analyze data along with the graduate student the candidate will be assisting.
  • Conduct literature searches and summarize information in an appropriate format for a particular experiment.
  • Document results of experiments in lab notebook, and routinely report results to the lab group.
  • Select, evaluate, and apply appropriate techniques used in needed routine research.
  • Attend departmental seminars, and attend weekly lab meetings/journal club meetings.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required
