Title: Research Technician II - Structural Biology
Summary
The Pillon Lab is seeking a technician to carry out routine laboratory procedures as directed. The lab's research program applies biochemistry, structural biology, molecular biology, and computational biology to understand the function and regulation of disease-linked RNA binding proteins.
Recent relevant publications from the principal investigator include:
-Cryo-EM Structures of the SARS-CoV-2 Endoribonuclease Nsp15. Nature Communications (2021)
-Cryo-EM Reveals Active Site Coordination Within a Multienzyme pre-rRNA Processing Complex. Nature Structural and Molecular Biology (2019)
-Grc3 programs the essential endoribonuclease Las1 for specific RNA cleavage. PNAS (2017)

Job Duties
- Assists in computational activities such as image processing of cryoEM data, macromolecule model building, and structural analysis
- Helps train junior staff and trainees in the group.
- Documents results.
- Participates in the validations of new tests and applications associated with RNA biology experiments.
- Conducts research experiments.
- Assists, summarizes research findings and publishes results in research journals.
- Assists in preparing figures for publications, conferences and grants.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with computational analysis and/or structural biology.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills, prioritization skills, time management skills, and attention to detail.
