The Sheth Lab is looking for a motivated Research Technician II to support efforts toward developing an adaptive deep brain stimulation system for treating refractory obsessive-compulsive disorder. This research work is part of a large collaborative NIH UH3 clinical trial. Primary roles includes neural and video data curation, and analysis of neural and video data to better understand the neural pathways underlying positive affect.

Job Duties

  • Analyzes neural data to draw correlations between cortico-striatal connectivity and positive affect estimated via computer vision analysis of videos.
  • Curates' neural data, video, audio, and behavioral task data.
  • Synchronizes video and audio recordings using existing MATLAB code.
  • Evaluates neural data quality (assesses impact of deep brain stimulation artifacts).
  • Debugs and improves existing MATLAB audio and video synchronization code.
  • Assists with data collection.
  • Provides technical assistance to human study participants collecting data at home.
  • Assists in installation of phone and tablet applications required for human data collection at home.
  • Tracks participant data collection at home and encourages participant compliance.
  • Assists with conducting adaptive DBS experiments and electrophysiological data collection with participants in the clinic. 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a Basic Science or related field.
  • Experience with Electrophysiology signal analysis. 
  • Experience in programming that includes Matlab and Python.
