Summary
A research technician II position is available in Dr. Yi Zhu’s laboratory at Baylor College of Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics. Our laboratory uses biochemistry, molecular biology, cell culture, imaging, and rodent physiology to understand adipose tissue gap junction and its relation to the whole-body metabolism. We are looking for a research technician who can assist in mouse colony management, perform routine molecular biology procedures such as DNA, RNA, and protein isolation, qPCR, western blotting, immunofluorescence staining, and cell culture after provided training in the lab.
Job Duties
- Assists in mouse colony management.
- Performs routine molecular biology procedures such as DNA, RNA, and protein isolation, qPCR, western blotting, immunofluorescence staining, and cell culture after provided training in the lab.
- Assists with ordering and keeping an inventory of laboratory reagents and supplies.
- Performs other job related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
- No experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Must have a GPA > 3.3. Degree must be earned within the past three years and no gap in employment for more than six months after graduation.
- If applicable, please include unofficial transcripts with CV.
- Previous experience with mouse, cell culture, or any bench work in an academic or industry lab is preferred.
