The Pillon Lab is seeking a technician. The lab's research program lies at the intersect of structural biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and cell biology. The technician will carry out routine laboratory procedures that include biochemical preparations, molecular biology procedures, and cell culture. Technician will also have a role in ordering the lab supplies and maintenance of lab inventory. Seeking an enthusiastic, organized, technically-skilled research technician who will be responsible for helping to manage the laboratory and perform experiments. The position is ideally suited for a recent college graduate who is seeking additional years of hands-on research experience before pursuing graduate or medical school.

Job Duties

  • Prepares and maintains lab stocks that includes buffers, media, and gels.
  • Expresses and purifies proteins from bacterial, insect, or mammalian cells.
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.
  • Documents results of experiments.
  • Carries out routine biochemical and cell biological assays using standard operating procedures.
  • Orders laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Maintains an up-to-date lab inventory.
  • Assists researchers with routine molecular biology and cell culture techniques.
  • Performs structural biology and biochemistry experiments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with cloning and/or Protein Purification.
  • Recent College Graduates.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, prioritization skills, time management skills, and attention to detail.
  • Enthusiastic and has technical skills.
