The Polverino lab is seeking an outstanding candidate for a Research Technician position. The technician will lead the Principal Investigator's projects. Research Technician will assist in animal and human experiments that are focused on lung emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and COVID-19. This technician will need to keep accurate and concurrent records of specific experiments performed and will order lab supplies and reagents. It is essential the applicant be flexible with work hours within the 40 hour work week.

Job Duties

  • Assists in vivo and in vitro experiments using murine and human samples.
  • Accepts and processes human blood and lung specimens.
  • Maintains lab records of experiments performed and interprets/analyzes data.
  • Assists with patient consent and data collection.
  • Orders lab supplies and reagents.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in laboratory work (employment in a biomedical research lab for at least 2 years not including undergraduate training).
  • Experienced in at least 3 of the following: DNA/RNA work,  cell culture and/or work under sterile conditions, ELISA, immunostaining, flow cytometry, microscopy.
  • Familiar with computer based data, statistics, and record keeping.
