Job Title:  Research Technician II - Cell and Gene Therapy/GLP
Division:  Center for Gene Therapy
Work Arrangement:  Onsite only
Location:  Houston, TX
Salary Range:  $35,591 - $41,872
FLSA Status:  Nonexempt
Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

Translational research lab is seeking a highly motivated and responsible research technician. Daily work includes receiving, registering and processing blood samples. Collected plasma and PBMC need to be cryopreserved for different tests. The technician will perform DNA extraction, QPCR, ELISPOT and immuno phenotyping for indicated samples. Technician should be meticulous and have good planning and communication skills.

Job Duties

  • Conducts isolation and cryopreservation of mononuclear cells from peripheral blood samples.
  • Registers samples in laboratory databases for storage and further testing.
  • Provides requested samples to other lab members.
  • Performs extraction of DNA and QPCR.
  • Works on ELISPOT and staining for flowcytometry.
  • Works on cell culture.
  • Submits data to principal investigator.
  • Maintains lab equipment and supplies inventory.
  • Documents the results and prepares them for presentation.
  • Participates in the validations of new tests and applications.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of related experience is a plus. 
  • Be responsible and meticulous.
  • Has good organizational skills.
  • Has excellent communication skills and is a good team player.
