Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Eberlin Laboratory in the Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine is seeking a Research Technician I to perform routine elements of laboratory tasks management that requires the use of basic technical and laboratory skills. The Research Technician I will be a motivated, organized, and team-oriented individual who is comfortable working with other scientists in a research laboratory focused on translational biomedical research. 

Job Duties

  • Prepares materials and supplies for laboratory research experiments. 
  • Maintains research instrumentation (e.g., mass spectrometers and 3D printers). 
  • Produces and develops research devices (e.g., mass spec pen devices and sources). 
  • Maintains the organization of the laboratory. 
  • Orders supplies. 
  • Keeps timely organization of all orders, invoices, and other documentation on research accounts required for purchasing. 
  • Organizes laboratory activities, including weekly group meetings and other gatherings.
  • Interfaces with clinical providers to receive and send samples, including surgeons, pathologists, nurses, and doctors. 
  • Performs the routine elements of research work that requires the use of skills, technical and academic knowledge to follow established procedures and record results.
  • Assists research staff in conducting research experiments.
  • Perform other job related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.
