Job Title:  Research Technician I

Salary Range:  $32,355 - $38,065
FLSA Status:  Nonexempt
Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

The Research Technician I will participate in various aspects of ongoing research projects in the lab. Job duties include mouse husbandry and genotyping, assisting with mouse surgeries or experiments, biochemistry experiments such as western blotting, molecular biology (PCR, RNA isolation), cardiac cell isolations, cell culture.

Job Duties

  • Provides weekly progress reports.
  • Assists in lab facility and mouse colony maintenance.
  • Participates in various aspects of ongoing research projects in the lab.
  • Assists with mouse surgeries or experiments, biochemistry experiments such as western blotting, molecular biology (PCR, RNA isolation), cardiac cell isolations, cell culture.
  • Participates in journal club and lab meetings.
  • Performs scientific experiments under the daily supervision of a graduate student, postdoc, or junior faculty in the lab. Experiments vary depending on the project and stage of the research.
  • Attends seminars, meetings, and completes training as required.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Has good communication skills, be detail oriented, motivated.
