Job Title:  Research Technician I - Immunotherapy and Cancer
Division:  Pediatrics

Salary Range:  $32,355 - $38,065
FLSA Status:  Nonexempt
Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

Our Lab in collaboration with another labs at Texas Children’s, is designing and testing chimeric antigen receptor T-cells against pediatric brain tumors. The project requires a research technician to provide much-needed support of several aspects of this work, including lab-based in vitro work and in vivo work  testing CAR T-cells in mouse models of cancer. This is an excellent opportunity for those interested in translational science and biomedicine.

Job Duties

  • The research technician will be trained to perform the following lab work, which includes, but is not limited to, the following: 
    • Tumor and immune cells culture and passaging 
    • Viral transaction and transduction 
    • Flowcytometry and FACS sorting
    • ELISA and Western blotting
    • Immunoassays, including xCELLigence Real-Time Cell Analysis (RTCA) and Incucyte. 
    • Animal work, including taking care of mice, animal surgeries, and imaging. 
    • Analyzing data on GraphPad Prism, R studio, FlowJo, and Microsoft.  
    • Presenting in lab and local scientific meetings.
    • Abstract and manuscript preparation and writing. 
    • Orders laboratory supplies and equipment.
    • Performs other job related duties as assigned.
    • Documents results of experiments.
    • Conducts literature searches and summarizes information in an appropriate format for a particular study.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.
