Salary Range:  $32,355 - $38,065
FLSA Status:  Nonexempt
Work Schedule:  Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Summary

We are looking for a well-organized and skilled research technician for a research laboratory. This position is ideal for recent undergraduates in the biomedical field who want to acquire practical research skills prior to going to graduate or medical school.  The job covers all aspects of the research in the laboratory ranging from ordering and shelving research items, managing mouse colony to performing experiments and will provide a rich learning environment.  Candidates will be expected to exhibit individual initiative, work with mice and rats, be technically proficient and accurate, effectively communicate in both written reports and presentations, initiate and ensure compliance with applicable safety procedures and possess attention to detail.

Job Duties

  • Performs the routine elements of research work that requires the use of skills, technical and academic knowledge to follow established procedures and record results. 
  • Orders reagent, find best offers, follow-up, shelving reagents. Maintaining clean lab environment.
  • Works with mice and rats and maintain a mouse and rat colony.
  • Genotypes mice and rats, wean newborns and round the colony. 
  • Involved in mouse and rat experiments.  
  • Will perform research experiments and documents results.
  • The candidate will learn to work with cells, enteroids and harvested mouse/rat tissues, extract DNA and RNA, and perform molecular biology experiments. 
  • Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments.
  • Evaluates and applies techniques used in routine research.
  • Collects, compiles and analyzes data.
  • Orders laboratory supplies and equipment.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Two years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a basic science or related field.

Experience working with mice/rats.

Previous experience working in a research lab.
