Summary

The VRC (Vaccine Research Center) is within the Molecular Virology and Microbiology dept of Baylor College of Medicine. We conduct clinical trials related to infectious diseases. Our research focuses mainly on finding treatments and vaccines to combat the diseases. Job Duties
  • Adhere to the scope of practices as defined by the Texas Nurse Practice Act.
  • Under the guidelines of IRB approved protocols, will recruit, enroll, and follow adult and pediatric study volunteers.
  • Obtain informed consent and administer vaccines as directed by study protocol. Collect samples/specimens from study subjects, often utilizing phlebotomy skills.
  • Collect, organize and manage clinical research data with review for accuracy and completion. Maintain integrity and confidentiality of research data.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Research Associates for monitoring of study-related material.
  • Assist study Principal Investigators with IRB submissions and ongoing communication with the IRB (renewals, adverse event reporting, amendments, etc.).
  • Participate on team teleconferences, as appropriate.
  • Stock and order supplies.
  • Provide training and guidance to research nurses and other research personnel as needed.
  • Perform clinical assessments as needed, serving as triage for adverse events. 
Minimum Qualifications
  • Education Required: Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Experience Required: Two years of relevant experience as a licensed Registered Nurse (RN). Degrees in lieu of experience will not be accepted.
  • Certification/Licenses/Registration Required: Current license as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State of Texas Board of Nursing.Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
