The Department of Medicine, Section of Infectious Diseases, is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Research Coordinator III. The Research Coordinator position involves coordinating day to day activities of research protocols and activities of the research funded projects. Responsibilities include assisting the Principal Investigator with the development, implementation, and evaluation of research protocols based on funded grant applications, development of content and other design specifications for interactive patient education programs, and the coordination of subject enrollment, data collection, and retention.  Our research studies focus on people with HIV.

Job Duties

  • The Research Coordinator III will develop and implement research project protocols based on funded grant applications; coordinate implementation and evaluation of the research protocol. This entails:
    • Works with Principal Investigator to develop and coordinate regulatory administration for research projects (e.g., prepare IRB applications in BRAIN, prepare administrative approval requests for Harris Health System, prepare reports and participant enrollment tables).
    • Assists Principal Investigator with the development of content, materials and schematics, and other design and specifications documents for interactive programs, training videos, and other intervention materials. Assists with researching, writing, and developing content.
    • Coordinates subject recruitment, eligibility screening, and scheduling; assists in developing participant surveys; administers surveys in REDCap/Qualtrics; writes data summaries and reports; creates and maintains spreadsheets for data and other project information in MS Excel.
    • Coordinates and conducts interviews and focus groups, including developing procedures, training manuals, and measurement instruments; code qualitative data.
    • Monitors performance of research projects, launches of surveys, and collection/quality of data; adheres to timelines; troubleshoots problems; responds to inquiries.
    • Coordinates with PI, Co-investigators, and study team as needed to ensure project success (staying within scope, on schedule), in person and using project management tools.
    • Supervises and assists in the training and daily work of other research coordinators.
    • Conducts focused reviews of medical records to abstract relevant data on participants.
    • Assists in production of grant applications, progress reports, manuscripts, and dissemination materials.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual (Spanish).
